Become a Hawkeye
We are pleased to continue the Hawkeyes this year and excited to continue to strengthen our Arbor Heights school-family connection through a classroom-based parent support network.
What is a Hawkeye?
- A Hawkeye works with their student’s teacher to learn what that teacher needs in terms of volunteer support; this allows the teacher to focus on teaching.
- A Hawkeye is a liaison between the PTSA and the classroom; forwarding information regarding projects, events, and volunteer needs.
- A Hawkeye is a communicator and coordinator who informs families from their child’s class about teacher needs and helps coordinate volunteers on behalf of the teacher.
- A Hawkeye does not need to be present in the classroom during the school day. Hawkeye’s interested in volunteering within the class room should complete the SPS volunteer application.
What to Expect
- You will be in contact with your child’s classroom teacher. The amount of contact will vary according to grade level and time of year. It will be important to have a meeting early in the year to discuss the teacher’s needs.
- You will be contacted by the PTSA when there are events that need volunteers. This will also vary according to time of year.
- There can be more than one Hawkeye per classroom.
- You will be supported by the Hawkeye coordinator, a member of the PTSA, for any questions you may have.
If you are interested in becoming a Hawkeye or would like more information, please email the Hawkeye coordinator, Aimee Kelly at [email protected]. She will be working with the Hawkeyes throughout the school year.
Thank you for your interest in the new Hawkeye position at Arbor Heights!
