Arbor Heights Elementary School Garden

Supporting Students, Families, and Staff of the Arbor Heights Community

Our garden is a space where students, teachers, families, and community members can come together to learn, grow, and connect. Through gardening, students develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and the importance of sustainability. They learn about composting, water conservation, and the impact of their choices on the environment. The garden offers a unique and engaging learning experience that fosters a love for nature and a sense of accomplishment. Students can witness firsthand the results of their hard work, boosting their confidence and fostering a positive attitude towards learning.

Thank you to the Arbor Heights PTSA and community members who fund this garden! It would not be possible without their financial support.

Volunteer

The Arbor Heights Garden is entirely volunteer-led by our amazing community of students, parents, and teachers. Volunteers help care for the garden, work with students, and support garden-related events. We are always looking for more volunteers! Contact [email protected] for more information.

AH Garden Club

Does your student enjoy nature, being outside, and working with their hands in the soil? This after school club will support students in grades 2nd-5th as they become stewards of our school garden. Students will enjoy weekly gardening projects, crafts, and games in the garden space. We will foster a sense of connection and gratitude for the garden and our environment through activities and reflections. We will primarily be outdoors and student participants should dress appropriately for the fickle Pacific Northwest weather (the class may move inside during heavy rain).

Garden Club is offered in the Fall and Spring.

Art & Exploration Pop-up Events

Join us after school to explore the Arbor Heights garden and participate in garden themed arts & crafts activities.

Next Pop-Up Event: Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 2:30pm-4pm

Stay tuned for upcoming Art & Exploration Pop-up events!

What’s growing? Spring 2025

Flower garden: Daffodil and tulip bulbs are beginning to bloom! Students in the Fall 2024 Garden Club, along with 4th grade students in Ms. Gerhardt’s class worked hard last October and November to plant an array of flower bulbs in and around the school garden. Check out the beautiful blooms on your next visit to the garden!

Vegetable beds: Chard and kale are back! Feel free to harvest these leafy greens on your next garden visit.
