Open PTSA Board Positions

Open Board Positions:
Secretary
Maintains accurate records of PTSA business
- Includes taking minutes at meetings, managing official correspondence, and organizing important documents.
- Time Commitment: 0.5-1 hour/week
Treasurer 1 & 2
Manages the PTSA’s finances
- Includes handling all incoming and outgoing funds, preparing financial reports, and maintaining accurate records for auditing purposes.
- One treasurer may focus on budgeting and oversight, while the other handles day-to-day transactions and reimbursements.
- Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/week
Communications Chair
Informs families about PTSA events, meetings and other school updates
- Includes preparing weekly communication, monthly take-home flyers, and updating the PTSA website.
- Graphic design skills are a benefit.
- Time Commitment: 1-2 hours/week
Event Planning Committee Member
Helps bring school events to life!
- Lead one event you’re passionate about or support events throughout the year.
- Tasks include planning, coordinating volunteers, and helping with setup or day-of activities.
- This is a fun way to get involved in the PTSA! No experience needed.
- Time Commitment: Flexible
Yearbook Advisor
Leads the creation of the school’s annual yearbook, capturing the memories and spirit of the school community
- Manage the yearbook timeline, deadlines, submission process, and coordinate with the publishing company.
- Recruit volunteers to help you gather photos and content from school events, classrooms, teachers, staff and families.
- Oversee the entire process including page layout, text, photo captions, final proofs and coordinating distribution.
- Must be detail-oriented and comfortable with online design tools.
- Time Commitment: Flexible, with busier periods near deadlines and distribution
DEI Chair
Supports the school and PTSA in creating a more diverse and culturally responsive school environment
- Work across school leadership groups, staff and families to develop and support activities that promote diversity and equity concepts.
- Attend West Seattle Public School Equity Fund meetings.
- Time Commitment: Averages to 2-3 hours/month
Membership Chair
Connects families, teachers and staff with the PTSA
- Facilitates the membership drive at beginning of the school year.
- Communicates with members regularly to boost engagement in PTSA decisions and events.
- Time Commitment: Varies per month
Open Enrichment Position:
After-School Enrichment Co-Coordinator
The Arbor Heights After-School Enrichment Program is managed by two co-coordinators who work together to support program planning, operations, communication, and student safety across 3 enrichment sessions each school year. Responsibilities are divided between the coordinators based on strengths and experience, with close collaboration throughout the year.
Areas of Responsibility May Include:
- Coordinating enrichment classes, schedules, and classroom logistics
- Building relationships with instructors, vendors, and community partners
- Managing enrollment, registration support, and scholarships
- Recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers
- Communicating with families, instructors, school staff, and PTSA leadership
- Supporting day-of program operations, student transitions, and dismissal
- Troubleshooting scheduling, attendance, and operational issues
- Maintaining program records and systems, including Homeroom
Position Structure
This is a shared leadership role with responsibilities divided between two coordinators. One coordinator may focus more heavily on program/vendor management and session setup, while the other may focus more on volunteer coordination, school communication, and day-of operations.
Time Commitment
Workload varies throughout the enrichment cycle. Registration periods and session launches are the busiest times of the year, while active program weeks typically involve lighter ongoing coordination and support. This position includes a stipend.
